Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which others may receive it. By continuing to use Clare County Criminal History, you agree to the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Clare County Criminal History does not keep or log those terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

Messages sent by email may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. They remain within the site team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive ordinary technical and usage details:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. Along with analytics services, they help summarize traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
  • Finding and repairing performance or technical problems
  • Understanding which pages visitors use most
  • Operating the site and improving load times
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Clare County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content explains access through Clare County Sheriff, the county courts, MSP CJIC, and Michigan PSOR. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party records or consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies provide the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing practices govern information submitted through a tool. Review a provider's policy before running a search because this site does not control those practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Clare County offices, Michigan agencies, courts, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, that destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for interest-based advertising.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure use and performance
  • Search providers that process a visitor's submitted query
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
  • Advertising networks that serve content on site pages

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet system is completely secure, however, so the site cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, it may be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to qualifying government records, while MCL 28.242a governs dissemination of public Michigan criminal-history information; neither converts this private site into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable privacy law, a visitor may:

  • Request deletion of eligible personal data
  • Ask for access to personal information held by the site
  • Object to certain forms of processing when the law permits
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A changed version will be posted here and will show a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
